In the canton of Zurich, wines of impressive quality are maturing. Even the freak weather of recent years hasn’t been able to dampen this upward trend. Even traditional varieties like Pinot Noir and Riesling-Silvaner are surprising with new stylistic nuances. The dynamism of Zurich’s winemaking is also evident in specialties such as Räuschling, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, and the emerging new, hardy varieties. The result is unique wines that have something crucial in common: a good balance between fruitiness and stimulating freshness.
