600 years ago, vines were already growing on the steep, southwest-facing Schipfhalden in Herrliberg. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the Werdmüller and Escher families, who were active in the silk trade in the city of Zurich, started the tradition of summer residences with vineyards on Lake Zurich by building the stately houses of the "Schipf" estate. Over 120 years ago, the estate became the property of the von Meyenburg family. Kaspar von Meyenburg, professor of microbiology, was given the beautiful winery by his father in 1991. In 1994, he took over its management himself.
Today, the varieties Pinot noir (Clevner), Räuschling, Riesling x Silvaner and specialties such as Pinot gris, Gewürztraminer, Garanoir, Freisamer and Chardonnay grow on this sunny location on 4.5 hectares. The grapes are pressed in the almost 300-year-old wine press and the wines are then stored in the unique vaulted cellar until they are ripe.
The red Pinot Noir matures in barriques or larger oak barrels. We also press Federweiss and a rich rosé from the Pinot Noir grapes.
Let yourself be surprised by the variety and uniqueness of SCHIPF wines during a tasting.
We look forward to your visit, Kaspar von Meyenburg and team

The last stop on the big tour for cigar aficionados is Herrliberg, or more precisely: the Schipf winery. A wonderful place

A resourceful winegrower from Lake Zurich was already thinking about the increasingly warm and dry summers. A foresight that is now paying off in his vineyard in Herrliberg ZH.
